Galops® Ponies Federal Guide

OBJECTIVE "Bringing a child and a pony together is a wonderful adventure for anyone with responsibilities in education, sport and leisure," explains Serge Lecomte, President of the Fédération Française d'Équitation, in the preface to the new publication. "Pony riding is appealing from a sporting and cultural perspective as well as an emotional one. The bond formed between child and pony helps the child grow. At the Pony Club, children broaden their horizons to include ponies and other people, gain self-confidence and become stronger, more skilful and more responsible. The Galops® Ponies Federal Guide sets out the training plan in six stages. It is a great tool for parents and Pony Clubs to support our children on their riding journey." THE PROGRAMME Galops® Ponies are aimed at children aged 3 to 10 years. They are organised into 2 cycles of 6 stages to structure learning right up to the threshold of Rider Galop® 2. Cycle 1 comprises the Bronze, Silver and Gold Poneys®. Cycle 2 comprises the Bronze, Silver and Gold Galops®. Galops® Ponies take into account the fundamental physiological, psychological, intellectual and social aspects of a child's development. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Each Galop® in the pony pathway includes 5 sections, with knowledge sections covering theory and practical sections covering hands-on skills. They mirror the 5 sections of the Rider Galops®: - General Knowledge - Pony Knowledge - Groundwork Practice - Caring for the Pony and its Tack - Riding Practice View the syllabus, regulations and training plan by clicking HERE. THE GUIDE The content is set out in the Galops® Ponies Federal Guide, which helps parents support their child as they discover riding, ponies and the Pony Club, sharing in this wonderful adventure together. Hirlay's drawings help children and their families understand what is asked of them through clear illustrations.
