What is Welltex®?

At Back on Track, we use a unique mineral-infused textile called Welltex. Welltex has heat-reflective properties. The fabric combines ancient Chinese methods with modern scientific textile technology. Dr Erland Beselin discovered a type of pain-relieving treatment developed in ancient China, which involved applying a special type of marble stone to sore muscles. The Chinese sought and used only a specific form of this marble, containing a particular blend of metal oxides that gave it the ability to reflect heat and relieve pain. Due to its growing popularity, this specific marble was in high demand, prompting the Chinese to experiment with alternative clays that also contained metal oxides. They fired these clays into mineral tiles, which could then be applied in the same way as the marble stones.

How Welltex® is made

The minerals are ground into a fine powder and then infused into the fibres of the fabric at a very high temperature. This means that the fabrics in our products have the same effect as the minerals themselves.

How Welltex® works

Welltex® fabric captures the heat naturally emitted by your body, converts it into a form of infrared thermal radiation, and reflects it back into your skin, bones, muscles and joints. Infrared radiation is a well-known form of energy used to enhance well-being and produces a beneficial effect, particularly on muscles and joints. The reflected warmth helps reduce muscle tension by supporting blood circulation, which can aid recovery from injury and exertion. Since both humans and animals radiate body heat during rest as well as activity, the products can be used both overnight and during exercise itself. However, at rest, the radiation is lower than when the body is active. Therefore, the most effective way to use the products is both at rest and during physical activity on the most exposed areas. Back on Track® products work naturally by utilising your own body heat, meaning there is no risk of them being classed as doping. No external heat is added. The result is an even, soothing warmth created exclusively by reflecting the body's own heat.
