What is Welltex®?

At Back on Track, we use a unique mineral-infused textile that we call Welltex. Welltex has heat-reflective properties. The textile is a blend of ancient Chinese methods and modern scientific textile technology. Dr Erland Beselin discovered a type of pain-relieving treatment developed in ancient China. This involved applying a special type of marble stone to sore muscles. The Chinese sought and used only a certain form of this marble, which contained a specific combination of metal oxides that gave it the ability to reflect heat and relieve pain. Due to its growing popularity, this specific marble was in high demand, which encouraged the Chinese to experiment with alternative clays that also contained metal oxides. They fired these clays to form mineral tiles that could then be applied in the same way as the marble stones.

How Welltex® is made

The minerals are ground into a fine powder and then infused into the fibres of the fabric at a very high temperature. This means that the fabrics in our products have the same effect as the minerals.

How Welltex® works

Welltex® fabric captures the heat naturally emitted by your body, converts it into a form of infrared thermal radiation, and then reflects it back into your skin, bones, muscles and joints. Infrared radiation is a well-known form of energy used to enhance well-being and produces a beneficial effect, particularly for muscles and joints. The reflected heat helps reduce muscle tension by supporting blood circulation, which can aid recovery from injuries and exertion. Since humans and animals give off body heat both at rest and during activity, the products can be used both overnight and during exercise itself. However, at rest, the radiation is lower than when the body is active. Therefore, the most effective way is to use the products both at rest and during physical activity on the most exposed areas. Back on Track® products work naturally using your own body heat, so there is no risk of the products being classed as doping. No external heat is added. The result is an even, soothing warmth created exclusively by reflecting the body's own heat.

How to use Welltex®

It is important to start using the products gradually so that the body can get used to the effect of the fabric. Use the product for a maximum of 4 hours for the first 2-3 days. The reason for this recommendation is that some people may initially experience pain. In horses and dogs, this may appear as swelling due to increased blood flow, which is actually a good sign that the ceramic fabric is taking effect. (If pain or swelling occurs after just one hour of use, stop using the product for that day and introduce it a little more gradually over the following days.) After the introductory period, use should be increased to at least 8 hours per day, preferably longer. Even after one hour, a positive effect on tense muscles and stiff joints is often felt. More persistent conditions may require several days, up to 10 to 20 days, before achieving the desired result.
